Humble Beginnings

Select Travel Service was established in London, England, in response to what was at the time a very new desire from British schools wishing to run short educational trips within the UK and across the English Channel to France. And 90 years later and with just one change of ownership, those small beginnings have led to the creation of one of Europe’s most respected companies in the field of short-term educational travel & exploration.

We remain independently owned and operated, and not an international conglomerate. Sometimes, bigger isn’t always better. With a team of 75+ staff in Europe and a local team here in the US, we’re certainly big enough to get the job done, but you will never be one of the crowd. We pride ourselves in listening to faculty and building close professional and personal relationships with study abroad professionals and faculty so we can deliver your vision completely and seamlessly.

During that time, the company has undergone just one change of ownership. Furthermore the current ownership has worked for Select for a combined 55+ years prior to the acquisition. So you could say experience and consistency is in the company’s DNA.

     This allows us to avail you of an unrivaled knowledge of Europe, a deep well of European 

contacts and a flair for creative program design. Ninety years is a long time and our owners have a personal average of 30+ years each in the field of educational travel. Our senior management has an average of 20+years’ service with us.

     We are ever grateful that our successes and expansions are all down to organic growth of our core business, not via corporate acquisition.

This allows us to retain the personal service and true educational travel heritage which has been the hallmark of our success for so very many years. Just like the field of education, the art of educational travel cannot be exclusively about business and the absolute bottom line. We are very proud to be a team of travel educators first and foremost.
