With the greatest diversity of musical theatre, classic plays, new works and creative revivals, the depth of offerings, a trip to London is almost "compulsory viewing" for students of theatre. Combine that with the re-launched Royal Shakespeare Theatre in close by Stratford-Upon-Avon and its an irresistible combination. Day One

Depart U.S.

Overnight flight from Gateway City to London.

DAY two
Arrive in London

Morning arrival in London and transfer to the hotel. En route into the centre, enjoy a panoramic London highlights tour during which we’ll see all the major sights of both London’s Old City and vibrant West End. We’ll drive past such famous sights as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, then along the river to the Tower of London. London is known for its comprehensive and easy to use metro system, known locally as “the tube”. Your  Oyster Card will provide travel on the tube and bus system for your entire stay. This evening we gather for a welcome dinner at the hotel or local pub, of your choice.

Day Three

Theatre Visits and Workshops

Morning walking tour of “100 Years of London Theatre”. Trace theatreland’s history from Edwardian Music Hall and Suffragette Drama via revues, musicals, theatre clubs and battles with the censor, to subsidy and the fringe. Learn about personalities who have shaped theatre in the past 100 years from Charles Wyndham and Herbert Beerbohm Tree to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh. 


Following the walk, we tour the backstage areas at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, one of London’s oldest and best-loved theatres. The first theatre was built here in 1663 and the building we’ll tour today is the fourth incarnation and reopened in 2021 following a 2 year refurbishment. The tour is led by a senior member of the theatre team and can contain emphasis of stage management, technical theatre, theatre management or a more general overview. 


Tonight we will attend a performance at one of London’s famous West End theatres

Day Four

Workshops plus

V&A Museum

Participate in a private bespoke workshop at one of London's companies and studios.  Options include Punchdrunk, The Ambassador Theatre Group, the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, The Globe Theatre Education Department and the ultimate Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.


Options include: Improv & devised theatre, monologue coaching, movement & physical theatre, voice & accents, Shakespeare and a range of contemporary and classical classes.   All are tailor-made to suit the student levels of experience and suitability for your curriculum.


The afternoon is available for independent study. Alternatively you may wish to attend a matinee or evening production by RADA students.

Day Five

National or Globe Theatre Visits

This morning we suggest a tour of either:
A
National Theatre tour takes you behind-the scenes to see three auditoriums, front-of-house, scenic workshops and backstage areas, all in the company of well-informed, theatre experts. 


Alternatively visit Shakespeare's Globe Theatre also on London's South Bank. Tour the magnificent reconstruction of this 16th century theatre and enjoy a theatrical workshop on a subject of your choice.


This afternoon we stay on the South Bank and enjoy a late pub lunch in the company of one a top West End theatre critic.  Students will hear the latest trends and challenges across the entire theatre scene, have the opportunity to ask questions including career opportunities as well as preview the productions featuring in the program.


The evening attend a production at either the National or Globe.

Day Six

Theatre Workshop

We suggest a second and contrasting style of workshop this morniing.


Afternoon visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum which is a major repositary for a huge collection of theatre related item including set designs and models, wigs, costumes, production diaries and correspondence.  Its well worth a visit for all students of theatre and performing arts.


Evening production in the West End or National Theatre Complex.

Day Seven

Day to

Stratford-upon-Avon

Full day excursion to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Here one of our local study guides will conduct an indepth walking tour of the town including visits to a couple of the Shakespeare properties of your choice. 


The new Royal Shakespeare Theatre Complex now offers an exhaustive array of lectures and workshops on all of his works, plus tickets to one of the RSC productions at the state-of-the-art Royal Shakespeare Theatre or Swan Theatre.  Late night return to London.

Day eight

London at Leisure

Full day Suggested full day at leisure to allow students the opportunity for independent study and exploration.


Schedule an early pre theatre group dinner prior to attending the final production of the program.

Day nine

Return Home

Departure for the airport and return flight to the US arriving later the same day.
