Day One
Depart U.S.
Overnight flight from US to London.
DAY two
Arrive in London. Tour Windsor.
Morning arrival at Heathrow. Meet your Select Travel Service tour manager. Departing the airport we travel into central London and enjoy an orientation tour. The tour will encompass as many of the traditional sites of London as possible such as the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, Oxford Street, Hyde Park and Regents Street. Plenty of eye popping photo opportunities are included along the way.
Afternoon hotel check in and time to settle in your new home for the week.
Gather together again for an early dinner before retiring for the night.
Day Three
London and Sadlers Wells
Morning visit to Sadlers Wells. This is a premier venue for dance and opera in London. It occupies the site of a series of theaters, the first built in 1683. In the early 1990s, the turn-of-the- 20th-century theater was mostly demolished, and construction began on an innovative new design completed at the end of 1998. We will enjoy an afternoon at the complex complete with backstage tour and lecture.
Alternative visit: Sadlers Wells East is a new addition in 2025 set in the QE Olympic Park. It offers a diverse dance program and workshops in their "Dance Floor" foyer.
Afternoon for indepedent activities.
We break for dinner at a local restaurant, before returning to the theatre to attend tonight's production. Late evening return to the hotel.
Day Four
London Studio Workshops
This morning we visit the magnificent Victoria & Albert Museum. More than 500,000 pieces, the collection spans virtually every London stage production since the 1850's.
This afternoon we visit The Place. The Place is the UK's premier centre for contemporary dance, uniting training, creation and performance in one unique building. Working with dancers from age 5 upwards, The Place brings new talent into the dance profession and guides artists through their careers. The Place's activities, unmatched in their quality and range, include London Contemporary Dance School, Richard Alston Dance Company and the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, together with pioneering education, outreach and professional development projects. We will participate in a private workshop at the studio.
Subject to availability tonight we will attend a performance in the studio's Robin Howard Dance Theatre.
Day Five
London Workshops
This morning is at leisure.
This afternoon we visit the esteemed London Studio Centre. Bridget Espinosa opened the London Studio Centre in September 1978. At that time she was very aware of the need to provide dancers with the very best training in dance, music and drama in preparation for various careers in the professional theatre. Her considerable work as a choreographer and director ranged from a revue for the New York World Fair to West End productions. The LSC is recognized as one of the finest and best equipped dance training centres in Europe. We tour the facilities, participate in one of their many studio workshops.
Tonight we attend a performance at LSC's own De Valois Theatre.
Day Six
London at Leisure
Today is at leisure. Use your Oyster Card for travel on the tube system. The day is yours to enjoy the sights, museums and shops of this great capital city.
Alternatively optional programmed activities might include a matinee performance and talk at the Akram Khan Company known for its blends of classical and contemporary Indian dance.
Gather this evening for an early group dinner before our final production of the program.
Day seven
Return Home
Regrettably this morning we bid farewell to England and journey to Heathrow for our return flight home.
