Service Learning Opportunities
On a service learning program, students work alongside local communities. We team up with a variety of local partners in Europe to ensure a rewarding, meaningful and safe experience for your students.
Many of the opportunities can be integrated with a longer cultural or subject specific study program, and as such, can be arranged for periods as short as an evening or 1 to 2 days.
Sample Opportunities Include:
Working with newly arrived Syrian refugees in the Netherlands
Syrian refugees arriving in the Netherlands complete an initial screening process before being settled into local communities around the country. Students are given the opportunity to work with a Dutch charity who in turn work alongside the new arrivals to build their new communities which includes homes as well as recreational facilities.
Restoring Nature Preserves in Scotland
Students can visit a wide variety of facilities across Scotland including wildlife centres, wetlands and bird sactuaries. Work includes clearing invasive species of plants, building bird hides and bat houses around sites. Other opportunities include site management and learning how to maintain a balance between education, visitor management and protecting the assets themselves.
Students return home inspired, and ready
