Who we are — our story

1933

Select Travel Service was established in London, England, in response to what was at the time a very new desire from British schools wishing to run short educational trips within the UK and across the English Channel to France. And 80 years later and with just one change of ownership, those small beginnings have led to the creation of one of Europe’s most respected companies in the field of short-term educational travel & exploration.

 

1976

We opened our office in New Jersey USA to allow greater access and more rapid communications with educators in North America (no email or fax machines back then)! We are very proud to say many of the colleges we worked with back then, are still among our long client list. Subsequent overseas marketing offices were established in Australia, South Africa and Brazil. At the same time operational field offices were established across Europe, Russia and Ukraine.

 

Today

We remain independently owned and operated, and not an international conglomerate. Sometimes, bigger isn’t always better. With a team of 75+ staff in Europe and a local team here in the US, we’re certainly big enough to get the job done, but you will never be one of the crowd. We pride ourselves in listening to faculty and building close professional and personal relationships with Professors so we can deliver your vision completely and seamlessly.

 

Our Business Model

We are a little different from traditional study abroad providers. We work exclusively with faculty and Study Abroad Offices (not directly with students). We are based in Europe with our own offices in North America. We do not subcontract to a foreign partner or third party provider. The benefit to you is one of assured local expertise, security and quality control once on the ground in Europe, combined with the accountability and accessibility provided by our North American offices. Not to mention of course, the financial benefits which come from working directly with us.
